Friends of LRBT Canada, chaired by Tahira Haque, organized a fashion show — a first of its kind showcasing culture, music, fashion and cuisine of Pakistan in Mississauga Toronto, as part of an effort ny Pakistan’s Consulate General, Moin-ul-Haq, to promote culture beauty and diversity of Paksitan and attended by overseas Pakistani and important dignitaries. Nilofer Shahid, Pakistani Designer, presented her collection which was choreographed by Frieha Altaf of Catwalk Event Management and Productions, with the make-up and hair styled by Warda.
The evening opened with a short documentary and visual titled “Pakistan: Beyond the headlines.” followed by a display of an exquisite collection of stylish, intricate and colorful dresses by Nilofer Shahid Known for blending traditional work with contemporary trends, the elegance and eloquence of her style drew inspiration from Islamic and Moghul Art. Shahid, who started a small store in 1978, is now owner of a leading fashin house based in Lahore Meeras, and has participated in several international fashin shows. guests were invited to the food gala where signature Pakistani dishes prepared by Chef micheal and his team were served, which includes a variety of mangoes especially brought in from Pakistan.
