7 Basics to stay warm and stylish this Winter
Winter can be a fun time to experiment with deep colors, layer fashionable pieces and look ultra stylish.
For some people however, this time of year can be a bit daunting when it comes to looking fashionable. And no one wants to be a victim of a fashion faux pas either! So we’ve put together a few basics for you to stay warm yet stylish this winter 🙂
1. LAYER YOUR CLOTHES
Start with a thermal inner wear or tights under your jeans, pants or dress. This layer can be slightly loose as it will absorb any moisture or sweat keeping you warm and dry.
Don’t worry about how it looks, as this layer will be the innermost one. Just make sure it fits well and isn’t too bulky.
2. BUY A WELL FITTED SHIRT
This is the first layer people will see, so invest in a nice well fitted shirt or blouse to start layering. Just remember that the thinner or more well fitted your clothes are, the more potential for you to layer on top of it.
Wearing a t-shirt over a long-sleeve shirt or a skirt over pants can give some extra life to your warm-weather clothing
3. ADD A SLEEVELESS VEST OR SWEATER
The purpose of this layer is to help provide further insulation and trap heat. This will likely be a visible layer, so look for something that matches your shirts and wardrobe.
This is a piece you can choose to take off if the temperature goes up.
A printed woolen sweater can be a nice addition for a more professional environment.
4. INVEST IN A GOOD WINTER COAT
This is the one piece of clothing you’ll always want to have in colder weather, no matter how many layers you wear, so it’s worth making an investment.
There are many different types of winter coats out there, so you’ll have plenty of options to find something that suits you. Look for something thick, but also roomy enough that you’ll be able to layer underneath it
Look for different colors. If you are looking to stand out from the crowd, don’t stick with the traditional black or beige. Instead, find something bright and colorful that will work as a nice contrast against your inner layer.
5. ACCESSORIZE YOUR OUTFIT
You can accessorize your outfit by wearing a stylish woolen hat. We loose a good deal of heat out of your heads, so wearing a hat to keep you warm and away from the wind is always a good idea. Plus, it is also a sensitive part of the body, so you will really feel it when the temperature dips.
There are plenty of woolly ones out there to suit every preference and style.
6. WEAR A SCARF
Don’t forget that your neck will be exposed too, so covering up with a printed scarf is a great way to add more dimension to your look.
There are plenty of prints and fabrics to suit every outfit. An interesting pattern can help you stand out and it doesnt need to match the rest of your outfit in the same way either. Experiment with contrasting colors and prints. Dont be afraid to experiment with how you tie your scarf too, there are plenty of ways to wear the same scarf multiple times.
7. GET THE RIGHT PAIR OF SHOES
Boots are great and ideal for those cold winter nights. Boots are also thicker, and will help trap heat around your feet and ankles.
Consider higher boots that come further up your legs. The extra coverage will give you the freedom to consider a shorter skirt, and provide a slightly different look than ankle boots.
And that’s about it, now you have your guide to winter fashion basics…
We hope these tips will help you keep it chic and stylish this winter!
